Like many of you, we rely on the GAE, as do our customers. We feel that the GAE has an excellent overall uptime, and are in awe of the people who made GAE happen and keep it running on a daily basis. Some downtime is inevitable, and it's not important to us that GAE experiences occasional downtime. What's important is how it is handled, and the communications around this (we feel) could use improvement. The "feature" request asks that Google provide regular and structured updates on outage handling. By clicking on and "starring" the issue we can help Google quantify the demand for this sort of process, and make it easier to prioritize.
