Little update:
- In fact specifying the full email addresses after the /_ah/mail/
prefix works!
- I was fooled by the empty path info :(
- It seems to me the given example has not been tested ;)
Note that there's a typo in the example given at

I tested the source code that you had contributed.
It seems to operate normally.
I think that the setting or the environment in the mail address is a
cause.
