There's no way to just update static assets. I find that I always have to update my HTML files whenever I update my static assets anyway. As a safeguard against caches, it's a common practice to reference your CSS and JavaScript files like this
<script src="/something.js?${LAST-MODIFIED-TIMESTAMP}"></script> Most browsers and proxies should respect cache policies, but this is an almost foolproof way of doing it.
