unable to checkout via SSL.
I get

Wait, when you say 'change log', do you mean the contents of a file,
or just the message you typed to describe the commit?
If the latter, a project owner can simply run 'svn propedit --revprop
-r REV svn:log' and modify the message. It's not versioned data.
