I have discovered a bug related to the dragging of a DirectionsRenderer rendered route and have consequently opened a bug report - http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=2995
I have provided the users of my (non-public) web site, the option of asking for alternative routes (provideRouteAlternatives property of the DirectionsRequest). If the user selects a route other than the first one, when the route is dragged a javascript error is raised during the dragging process (therefor not a problem with my code).
