I hope it was not considered 'really bad' as it was certainly not
sinister. I have changed the app to both throttle and limit these
requests. I have almost 1/2 of my needed coordinates and requests will
be few and far between after I acquire the remainder. Is there anyone
I can appeal to?

No. And anyway, it is quicker to restart your router, (if you have
one), and get a different IP address.
