GDBE is an open source project providing a basic text editor for Google Docs: http://code.google.com/p/gdbe/
You can check out the live version here: http://gdocs-base-editor.appspot.com/ It's built with GWT and the AppEngine, just upload to your AppEngine account and you'll have a working editor.
