I have noticed that pretty xml causes fits, but
Document doc = XMLParser.parse(xml);
XMLParser.removeWhitespace(doc);
seems to clear it up. However since removeWhitespace() is mostly a JS
implementation, it is slower (in most cases) than simply doing that on
the server if that is
