i am confused about the implementation of grass.error() and

for some time, the GRASS icon is rendered badly in the X monitor
(using xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.12.3-1.fc17.x86_64). Screenshot
attached.
It looks ok for the wxGUI - hence it must be X related.
Any idea what could be wrong? Maybe related to XCreateBitmapFromData()?
