I think that you should keep what you have for GRASS6.4.3 - I just
installed it on MacOSX10.8 and it at least opens correctly - I will test it
more in next few days.
William, your binary has similar problem as WinGRASS, it does not open the
wxGUI properly - I can post more info, but
I am sorry to report that WinGRASS6.4.3-1 does not run on our lab
computers.
After clicking on the GRASS icon the cli window just flashes and the
startup page
does not open. We have GRASS6.4.3RC2 running OK on the same machine.
It is worrisome that the final release is more problematic than RC2,
OK. I'll stay with that for now.

did you activated to download the needed microsoft runtimes? it's on the
download tab (ms files and sample datasets) during the installation of the
standalone installer.

Hm, opens for me on 10.7 (essentially same as 10.8). I can try 10.8 (clean
system) tomorrow.
