Hi,
I'd suggest, in order to clearly distinguish G6 from G7, to replace
the current splash screen for the upcoming G7.0.0 release.
We may consider to get community contributions for this.
What do you think?

QGIS had (has?) practice to use old maps of places where QGIS
hackfests have been held. GRASS GIS lacks such a strong hackfest
tradition, but such approach still could be considered as an option.

When importing National Landcover Dataset (http://www.mrlc.gov/nlcd2011.php),
I would like to get the classes imported as raster labels. Gdalinfo reports
existing attribute table where one of the columns is
