Thanks to Martin Landa, the problem is solved: The space (delimiter)
must be only one, more spaces between the items (columns) results in the
error, so it is necessary to reduce the number of spaces to one.
E.g:
echo -e "1 2\n3 4" | v.in.ascii out=x fs=space --o
does work
echo -e "1 2\n3
I am getting more confused by each time I try to edit the conf-files.
To be sure I get your suggestions right, I send you my conf-files.

from a raster map I get vector polygons with r.to.vect.
As I use the -v flag, I get one category-number for each value. This is
what I want.
My problem: v.to.db does not update negative cats! Is there any way to
handle this?

command line. In total the script expects 14 parameters to be entered at
the command line but is seems as if only 9 are accepted. Is that a

It seems, that there are line-segments and a buffer is made for each. Do
you mean that?
Otherwise check:

not for each part (like each line segment gets its own area).

I've just started to use GRASS on a Mac, specifically running Snow Leopard.
However, the GUI response is extremely slow and whenever I resize the map
window it freezes. I wonder it this is caused by the Tcl/Tk implementation on
Mac. Is someone else having similar issues? i compiled it
