Hi everyone,
I am new to the world of Grass and have run into a bit of a snag. I am
currently trying to create a legend with multiple columns (3). I can
place the legend on my map without difficulties, however the problem
arises when I try and move it. Based on the map in question, I want t

I was wondering if anybody is familiar with ways of plotting drill hole
data in Grass (i.e. to visualize in NVIZ or to manage attributes, query
etc...) based on point features with known dip, strike and azimuth angles.
I have come across a paper (Development of Visualization Tools for

I also ran into the buffer overflow error that many others have been

I have had similar experiences using the gdal_translate utility. However
if you reproject the data using gdalwarp, it will recognize the
projection info and the -o flag does not need to be used.

Hi everyone,
I have been noticing some discrepancies in the PROJ_INFO files that are
created using Grass6.4 RC4 between the projection values option in the
tcltk interface and the location wizard option using the wxpython interface.
For example, inputting the projection info:

I have run across some problems displaying .ps maps that contain raster
images in evince. Evince will just hang at the loading stage, but will
not ever actually load or display the .ps file that contains the raster
image. The .ps maps were created using Grass 6.2, 6.3 or 6.4 on both

If you can't find the appropriate EPSG code, you can always create a
custom projection using the proj 4 definitions.
I think it might look something like this:
+proj=lcc +ellps=clrk66 datum=nad27 +towgs84=7,-96,23,33,45,0,0
You can also reproject it using ogr2ogr as well if you didn't want to
A few weeks ago there was some discussion regarding exporting an RGB
image as a .vtk file for visualization in paraview.
I am able to export RGB images successfully to display them in paraview

I have run across a seemingly random problem creating some maps with
.psmap instructions. If I run .psmap with vlegend included in the
instructions, it crashes and I get the error message included at the end
of the e-mail. If I run the psmap isntructions with the vlegend
instructions turned of
I have a pattern file of a wetland in .eps format. The .eps file was
created from an svg file using inkscape. The output .eps file that was
created had a colour specified as black (0 0 0 setrgbcolor) when opened
with a text editor. I created two additional eps files based on this
original one.
I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to import a .vtk file into
grass. For example, let's say I have a .vtk file that shows the trace of
a drillhole. This trace is a 3D line extending some distance beneath the
surface of the topography at a given dip and a given azimuth. It would

I am trying to create a new project using a custom proj4 string. The
parameters I specify are '+proj=utm +zone=6 +ellps=clark66

the projection settings using *g.proj -j -f -p* I get the following info:

Does anyone know if the r.mfilter will support negative values in the
matrix filter file. I was hoping to do a high pass filter on a dataset,
so I created a filter for input in the following format, but it will not
work.

r. There is an example on the
v.in.ogr man page.
Thanks for the exhaustive response !
