Hi, all,
Is there a way to use GRASS (or Python, I suppose) to make maps with text in
the shape of a polygon, like this one? (Warning, political content)

This may also depend on how you have built GRASS on Mac. There are a few ways
to do it, all of which are a big pain! Which technique did you use?

I have a shapefile of US counties in Texas. A map that I am trying to conceive
would 1) separate the polygons to add some distance / whitespace between the
constituting polygons 2) preserve their relative positioning 3) color the
polygons on a graduation of average income and 4) while preserving
I’ve recently moved a lot of my work to PostGIS and Python but I would love to
talk to you. Please feel free to reach me on my work email,

idea that GRASS would store everything in
PostGIS with perhaps its only specific column for its own geometries.
I guess not!

When importing a shapefile or other vector data, only the attrib tables get
saved to some database: sqlite by default, or PostgrSQL if you have configured
for that backend. But the geometry is still kept in the GRASS vector format.

Good morning, folks,
The GRASS wiki page for installing GRASS on Mac via Homebrew is out of date,
limited to 7.2. The OSGeo formulae have changed since, is there an updated set
of instructions?
Thanks,

Hello, all,
I've been proximal to GRASS for several years but never really used it much. I
am currently working on macOS Catalina. One of the things that I find is that
GRASS can get a bit slow here, part of which I attribute to running on
SQLite/Spatialite.
I know that GRASS and PostGIS have
g (like a script in /usr/local/bin instead of a

Hey, all! I'm using William Kyngesburye's GRASS for Mac OS X Mavericks. It
seems to install as a traditional Mac application, which opens and has a
Terminal that can be used. It doesn't seem to install to the bin, the way that
the Linux versions do. Here's my situation. I have a script that we
