Hi,
I find that in GRASS57 there was a wider variety of Contouring methods.
Kriging is absent
Minimum variance is absent
Do you recommend any other program to be used for contouring !

have you tried Qgis, which also comes with built in GRASS features.
Digitisation and attribution is quite easy in Qgis.
