I uninstalled and reinstalled sidecar and left the portnumber at 12900.
For some reason I wanted it to be the same port number as gelf input of
12201. I wanted a fresh config and everything else, and it appears to be
all working properly now. Thanks so much for the help everyone. It's most
Hi,
you should not copy nxlog.conf files around. The sidecar is fully
generating a configuration for nxlog and don't need any manual editing
(thats the one in C:\Program Files
(x86)\graylog\collector-sidecar\generated) every other config file is not
used.

Under the generated folder the nxlog.conf file has different contents from
the one under nxlog. Should both match?

Have you copied the nxlog.conf file from say C:\Program Files
(x86)\nxlog\conf\ to C:\Program Files
(x86)\graylog\collector-sidecar\generated\ ?
I recall needing to do that. Check the location collector-sidecar is
looking for nxlog.conf in in the collector_sidecar.yml file, backends
section.
The nxlog_stderr.log file has nothing in it. nxlog_stdout.log shows only 2
lines and both lines are as follows:
2016-07-27 11:44:14 INFO nxlog-ce-2.9.1504 started
2016-07-27 11:51:22 INFO nxlog-ce-2.9.1504 started
