Today, about hundred individuals participated in a convention held in Bank employees Union hall against the anti democratic order of the government issued on May 22, 2005 denying parent status to women in case of inter caste marriages. Convention was orgenised y MANUSHA.
K.Ajitha inaugurated the convention. Rekha Raj presented the issue . She wondered why the civil society is keeping a safe distance from this issue as if it affected only a minority. She also wondered why Dalit organisations are insensitive to this isssue. caste for dalit and adivasi women is not something could be erased automatically through marriage, she opined. Women should also be given the status of 'natural parent". K.M.SalimKumar , Jyothi Narayanan, Rajagopal Vakathanam, M.B.manoj, Sajini, Purushothaman, K.Sadanandan, Adv.Anila George, Dileep Raj and Adv. Rashmai participated in the discussion.P.D.Jose presided.
