You probably have two versions installed. Use Growl Version Detective to determine if you have Growl 1.2.2 (or below). Also, if it's 2.1.3 but it's inside of a prefpane, that's a corrupt installation and you would need to rectify that. http://growl.info/growlinstallcorrupt has how to fix that
