Don't get an alert for ticklers requiring action

I am having the exact same result trying to update 3.0 alpha r823143 - no tiddlers are ever returned, whether I hand type the url or use the drop-down selection. I've done it many times previously as a long- time user, but have been stuck here for a long time (but fully functional none-the-less).
