I think my version is pretty old, but the version number indicates that it
is newer than the current version r9843 (since 103230 9843). Has there
been a change in the numbering scheme that I haven't noticed?

Yeah the numbering scheme is (well has been) a mess. Version r9843 is the
latest (only a few days old).
