Allan;
I have talked to people that have owned and ridden the vtr 250 and really
like it. Comments include that it handels very well, will do in excess of
100mph, is a very tough and durable bike.

Yup rating is at the crank. I had mine dynoed at 5000 miles, got 93 at the
rear wheel. A 93 model was at 94.5. Stan

Darn, I hate being wrong. Particularly when I get caught in a brain fade.
Yes, Phil, yer right. VTR250s stopped being sold in this country after
the 1990 model year. Yup. Uh huh. I give.
(And the Kelley Blue Books gives the final year a wholesale value of about
$1,800, high for a 250.)

Sorry Jay--the Nighthawk is the CB250, not VTR, which is the Honda
designation for a V-twin. And the CB250 is not a particularly good little
motorcycle in my opinion. All my comments on the VTR do NOT apply to the
Nighthawk.

Actually, it's called the Nighthawk 250 these days and is still in the

Thanks Darren! At the time you traded it I'm sure it was the right thing to
do. It is nice to be able to "go back in time" and pick up a bike like this
in MINT condition. I never owned this bike back in the late '80s, but can
appreciate it's heritage. I plan on changing nothing and just preserving
Congratulations Kevin !!! An absolutely beutiful machine makes me wish I
had kept the one I had, I do miss the '86 model I had sometimes.

These are neat little bikes, Allan. Last I priced one here, it could be
had for a fair amount less than $1600 though. The bike has a fair amount
of low-end pull for a 250, and is fun. I assume this is for a newbie
rider or for a "campus-commuter" sort of use. As for the 1998 year--huh?

I am proud to announce the latest addition to my riding stable. A 1985
Yamaha FZ750 in MINT CONDITION! It has just over 11,000 miles and is TOTALLY
stock! It was kept in a temperature controlled environment for most of it's
life and is stunning in person. It cost around $7000. $3500 for the bike a
Who said anything about spraying it directly onto the chain?
