I use Spectro DOT 4 synthetic in my brake system.
It is supposed to be less Hygroscopic. Seems to
work well so far . I don't see how it would void a
warranty if it is DOT 4.

I replaced my brake fluid with Motul 5.1, which is a synthetic. It looked
identical to the Vavoline synthetic Dot3/Dot4 that I've been using.
If accepted...can we get the yamaha rep to issue a internal bulletin to
recommend the 5.1 switch over for us ABS HU replacement guys...mine goes in
hopefully this weekend
