Per recent discussions: I think the make install target in gnu-build-system should set DESTDIR to "/" (or "/.") Rationale: Many upstream makefiles (eg: https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-themes-standard/tree/themes/HighContrast/icons/Makefile.am) assume that when DES
