I'm another who uses the Uniquely You. Once you get the cover fitted (and yes,
that IS a process!), it's fabulous-- you can corset it so it supports
historicals properly! And of course you can pin into it, a huge plus
Well, for what it's worth, I've heard of people making a very tightly fitted
muslin of their own body, either one piece shoulder-to-hem, or with the seam
at the waist, and stuffing it to approximate their body. Not the easiest
thing to do, since you'd have to double check for non-circumferential
Alternately, a duct tape (or other material) dummy can be made over the
corseted figure, if that is desirable for costume fitting.

(the Twin Fit and My Double models) at $40 less than the usual price.
I've never had a dress form, and I'm wondering whether to take advantage

It is the one true dress form. Get it. Dont bother with dial a
dummies, duct tape ones or any of the non-pliable types. I've had
mine for 20 yrs and it's put up with moderate use abuse... including
2 overseas moves.

I'm with the group that says get a Uniquely You, or a similar squishable,
shapeable dress form. The hard ones like the Dritz form, which I did buy first
(actually it was a birthday gift from my hubby), will not be shaped like you
unless you do some major padding up from a smaller form. Mine
