Just beware that Drupal needs quite recent versions of things, and one
or two unusual access permissions, so we've certainly had issues in
the past. Nothing that can't be sorted with a good host, but
impossible with some of the budget lot with automated support.

Pretty much anyone can - Drupal is a fairly simple PHP/MySQL app.
All the cheapie hosting providers give you PHP and MySQL. Many of them
give you Fantastico or similar, so Drupal installations are generally
trivial...

You're probably right that there's more choice these days. We use
Penguin Internet (details on our technical page
www.lymingtonchurch.org/technical) who have been really good at
getting everything set up for Drupal. They are also very reasonable
price (around £30 a year for our level of traffic IIR

I've not done much research into it myself yet but have been meaning to put
something up with Drupal for some time.
I assume most web hosters will support Drupal now, but I should really start
looking into it.
