Finally, it isn`t as good as I thinked; the sensitivity on the higher part of the AM
band seems better than that of my old Sanyo MCD-S830, but on the lower part of the
dial it`s totally the opposite. I can get the poor-fair level semi-local WEVD with my
Sanyo easily, but not at all with the new
What do you think would be the cheapest option ? Repair the Sanyo MCD-S830 tape
recorder or put a much narrower filter in the other more new Sanyo receiver that we
buyed today from an used radio shop ?
Good night,

We had been today in various stores and couldn`t found anything that worked. In St.
Eustache, I tested several radios: one of them had huge overspills from CKAC-730 on
747, and another one had pretty distorted, but still fairly comprehensible splatter
from CFRA on 590, something I can`t

As I surmised might happen today, a radio blackout began just a few minutes ago at
approximately 1745 UTC impacting the daylight side of our planet. Here in Plant City,

I doubt very much that you will find a used radio store that would know what
a ceramic filter is, or have a filter or know how to install one. I think
you will have to send the radio to one of the radio hobbyist companies like

Hi,
I don't know where you're located (USA?) but 4845 is a Radio Mauritanie
frequency. Ramadan has already begun, and the Arabic-speaking stations
usually have extended broadcasting hours during Ramadan.
If you're on the East Coast of the US, 5pm would have been, very roughly, an
hour and a half
Would almost certainly say that what you heard was Radio Mauritanie,
Nouakchott, Mauritania, which has a 0100 UTC sign off. Programming is
usually in Arabic at this time.

Hello !
Intriguing report. I repeat what others sayed to you: 4845 is Radio Mauritanie in
Arabic, perphaps the strongest tropical band radio station here in Montreal aside from
WWCR-5070; I think they are stronger than even WWV-5000 when it`s in.
On the other hand, I`m not accoustumated with
