You have heard HiFer beacons. This band is 13.553-13.567 MHz and FCC
allows unlicensed experiments with maximum field strength of 10,000
microvolts/meter at 30 meters. This would mean 3 milliwatts (0.003W) to
isotropic antenna or 1.8 milliwatts (0.0018W) to 1/2 wave dipole.

Does anyone know what is going on at 13555KHz? There are many two letter CW
beacons on this frequency +/-. They beacons appear to be generated by
hobbyists. I have seen nothing in writing as to what is actually happening on
this frequency. Anyone know?
