** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Oct 15 at 1439 tune-in via best
Argentine SDR, nothing yet from LRA36; finally cuts on during music at
*1508.7, S4/S9 peaks but never overcoming background noise level for
which a full carrier would be helpful. 1513 standard canned s/on ``a
partir de este momento...``; multilingual about Spanish only; ``Ciclo
Radial 2022, Esperanza Audaz``, staff names, ``Nacional, La Radio
Pública``; 1514.6 themesong; 1518.3 recitation, another song; 1523.6
ID with frequencies, ``N,LRP``; 1524 YLs ``live`` with programa #25,
same as heard on Wed Oct 12; 1530 phones and other contact info. Says
there is a repeat on Fridays, 16 horas -- not sure if that`s start or
end time but = 13 UT, earlier than I would ever tune for it. BTW, I
did monitor after 15 UT this Thursday when there was allegedly a
special station anniversary broadcast - but, nothing heard. 1532 song
but dumps off air already at 1535* for a total of only 23+ minutes
achieved today. Remote times out at 1539, and still nothing at another
check before 1600 (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CUBA. 11670, Oct 15 at 0633, RHC English again on wrong band, S9+10
but overmodulated/distorted, YL boringly reading propaganda. This did
not happen the nights before, as it had on Oct 11. Something`s always
wrong at RHC (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NEW ZEALAND. 7225 LSB, Oct 15 at 0706, surprised to hear ZL1XR
repeatedly calling CQ 40, finally contacts unheard VK3SMW, on a legal
frequency? ZL did not specify a QSX. Except in W Hemisphere, below
7200 is ham, above 7200 is for broadcasting, like RNZI on 7245 but not
on yet. Or, like on 30m where Oz hams have special permission to
operate phone, do NZ hams have special permission to operate in this
broadcast band??? Bare-bones in QRZ.com: ``ZL1XR New Zealand flag New
Zealand, Roger Smith, Auckland, New Zealand`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NIGERIA. 7255 minus 67 Hz = 7254.933, Oct 15 at 1730, VON is on in
English, S9/+15 into Canary SDR but virtually unreadable, marred by
heavy lightning crashes; Blitzortung shows only small storm areas in
Western Sahara and Western Sahara [non] = northern Morocco. The really
heavy storms are further in SE Spain, and moreso eastern Mediterranean
between Crete and Cyprus. By 1735, VON is gone leaving only the
lightning and presumed trace of Tibet close to on-frequency. At 1739,
VON and its squeal are back on. 1746 gone again. 1800 back on with
squeal, minus 67-69 Hz = 7254.932v. And so it goes: Something`s always
abysmal at Abuja (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2160 monitoring: did not show at

** U S A. Previous WRMI update direct from Jeff said 7730 would be
among the frequencies still to be reactivated. That should have read
7780. However whenever we check, 7730 is JBA on low power so really of
no use. The FB version, as of about 22 UT Oct 14:

``WRMI Radio Miami International 18h · HELLO EUROPE! - 15770 kHz is
back on the air, finally, after Hurricane Ian damaged the transmission
lines. The regular schedule is 1100-0000 UTC daily, but we might
extend the schedule somewhat in the coming days. Our next targets are
21525, 5850, 7570 and 7780 kHz. We hope that some of these will be
back on the air next week. So stay tuned!``

15770, Oct 15 at 1623 tune-in via Maryland remote, dead air, then a
bit of BSing, dead air, partial WRMI IS and BBB ID, back to BSing,
i.e. other voices, presumably live Sabbath service at TOM; 1625 cut to
ME music fill! Quite a mess. But it`s a good S9/+10 signal. How about
into target Europe? Only noisy S7/S9 at UTwente, 1629 cut to ``That`ll
be the day that I die`` tune. And more fill music 1630+. Yet the
skedgrid shows SMTV on 15770 at 14-19. By 1727 recheck, 15770 is on
SMTV. At 1740, music and SFX, like soundtrack to a WB cartoon of
yesterday but with some Chinese dialog, and English, 1744 outro as a
skit with actors protected during COVID, about the S.M.

Skedgrid still shows System B on 15770 instead of 9955 at 19-20 only,
including WOR Saturday at 1930, despite having deleted us from there
months ago. So we continue without any WRMI broadcast toward Europe
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** VANUATU. 7890, Oct 15 at 0705, presumed Bislama talk is JBA on 2 x
3945 R. Vanuatu; at 0730 check, also on 3 x 3945 = 11835, S6/S8 in BB
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)
