NHK-Japan asks Toyota to supply official:
(20-Apr-06)

Japan's public broadcaster, NHK, has asked Toyota Motor Corporation to send
one of its executives to become a member of NHK's board of directors,
TMCnet reports.
At NHK's request, Toyota will choose one of its senior managing
director-level officials to be an NHK board member. The executive is
expected to retire from Toyota and serve as a full-time director at NHK.
NHK, which the government is considering reforming, hopes to introduce
Toyota-style management techniques to boost its efficiency. A Toyota
executive said the company has no reason to decline the request.
NHK's decision is in line with Toyota Chairman, Hiroshi Okuda's policy to
send executives to companies and other organisations that want to utilise
Toyota's management techniques in undertaking reforms.
Toyota has sent officials to a number of companies to become top
executives, including the Vice-President of Japan Post and the President of
Central Japan International Airport, with many of them subsequently
recognised for having improved the efficiency of the companies.
