DX/SWL/MEDIA PROGRAMS has been updated as of September 5:
http://www.worldofradio.com/dxpgms.html

WORLD OF RADIO HITLIST by ALAN ROE, also updated late August:
http://www.w4uvh.net/hitlit.htm

** COLOMBIA. 5910 approx., Sept 5 at 0114, Alcarav?n Radio is on with music,
S8, not enough to overcome storm noise level. Het on 6010v presumably between
the other HJDH and Inconfid?ncia (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 720, Sept 5 at 1202 UT, Chihuahua state song, 1204 inspirational
recitation about amor and ``un nuevo d?a``. It`s surely XEJCC in Ciudad Ju?rez,
listed by IRCA a 25 kW daytimer; WRTH 2016 says only 1 kW. A canned ID appears
at 1205, but fading and I can`t copy to confirm what slogan they are currently
using; 1206, 6:06 timecheck (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NEW ZEALAND. 15720, Sept 5 at 0138, no signal from usually reliable RNZI,
while RA is audible on 17840, 15240, even a JBA carrier on 15415 at 0202 when
15720 is still off. But at 0548, RNZI is back on with bigsig of S9+20 on next
frequency 11725, in fact the SSOB surpassing Brasil 11780 at only S9+10. Or has
15720 suddenly changed on no/short notice? No, still on sked at
http://www.radionz.co.nz/international/listen
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SIKKIM. 4835, Sept 5 at 1214, JBA carrier, presumed AIR Gangtok, and today
Monday, WWCR is already off 4840, unlike Sunday which must have been an
anomaly. Ron Howard reports that Sikkim carrier, stronger for him, has been
lacking modulation and that ABC NT VL8A was still silent as of yesterday. Are
there any other 4835 broadcasters? Only Radio Mara??n, Per?, which would not be
propagating now even if it still exist (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SRI LANKA. 11905, Sept 5 until 0115:17, JBA mis-timesignal from SLBC signing
on, pretending that it points to 0115:00; lately clocked at 0115:10; seems to
alternate between the two mistimes (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. WORLD OF RADIO 1841 monitoring: confirmed Sunday Sept 4 at 2330 on
WBCQ, 9330.036v-CUSB, good. Also confirmed UT Monday Sept 5 at 0030 on WRMI,
7730, S9+20/30. Also confirmed UT Monday Sept 5 at 0301 on Area 51 webcast, and
at 0329 check on WBCQ 5129.858-AM, S9. Also confirmed UT Monday Sept 5 at 0330
on WRMI 9955, very poor but definitely on webcast. Next:
Mon 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Tue 1100 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Tue 2130 WRMI 15770 to NE [we hope resumed after 3 weeks]
Tue 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
Wed 1315.5 WRMI 9955 to SSE
Wed 2100 WBCQ 7490v to WSW
Wed 2330 WBCQ 9330v-CUSB to WSW
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9330v-CUSB, Sept 5 at 0122, WBCQ is on again with an `Allan Weiner
Worldwide` replay, this one from recently as heard before talking about his
tractor, a 60-year-old Bush Hog, to mow around the property being too dangerous
for Pam or anyone but Allan to drive. Still going past 0201+ as original shows
are never only 60 minutes. Seems to be running AWWW just about every night on
9330 from 0100, once Blalock the Blaster is over, but of course, ad-hoc, not on
the websked. 9330 is otherwise occupied after 0100 only on UT Tuesdays &
Sundays (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9505, Sun Sept 4 at 2231, bigsig S9+20 with non-BS gospel huxter,
must be brand new. Formerly a WHRI frequency and probably so again. Yes, HFCC
shows 22-24 UT, 250 kW, 47 degrees starting Sept 4 in English.

Ivo Ivanov parses it out this way, needlessly complicated, involving two
transmitters depending on which day of week and which hour, showing
ex-frequencies, all 250 kW, 47 deg to WEu in English:

``WHRI Angel 1
2200-2300 NF 9505 Mon-Fri Brother Stair, ex 11750
2200-2300 NF 9505 Sat/Sun, ex 11750
2300-2400 NF 9505 Sat, ex 11750

WHRI Angel 2
2000-2200 NF 11750 Sun, ex 15530
2300-2400 NF 9505 Mon-Fri Brother Stair, ex 11750
2300-2400 NF 9505 Sun, ex 11750``
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 9475-, Sept 5, 2016 at 0121, PPPP on SFAW via WTWW-1 denouncing Pres.
Bill Clinton, obviously a very old recording from when he was in office and/or
re/running. But what else can you do today when you`re dead? (Glenn Hauser, OK,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 7505.18, Sept 5 at 0126, WRNO is on again and drifting slowly upward
as I try and retry to measure it, but pinned here at one instant (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1170, Sept 5 at 0147 UT, gospel huxter under/mixing with KFAQ Tulsa,
same situation as last time when I traced it to WWVA but without an ID heard.
KFAQ talk is about fishing in national parks and marine reserve areas next to
them, some of the best locations.

At 0158 UT the understation is wrapping program with address P O Box 511,
Lynchburg OH 45142. KFAQ seems to be in a fade helping to audiblize the other:
and at 0201 UT, definite ID as ``NewsRadio 11-70, WWVA Wheeling``.

So for the duration, here`s a chance for westerners to log WWVA, altho it`s
really from Ohio, not West Virginia. It must be on 50 kW ND if it can penetrate
KFAQ even west of Tulsa (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VIETNAM [non]. 7315, Sept 5 at 0129 check, WHRI ID with address in Cyprus
(as distinct from Cypress), and WorldVision hunger PSA, long pause at 0130:15,
VOV in Spanish relay starts up. WV ads/plugs occur at almost every break on
WHRI. Before sending $$$, have a look at:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Vision_International#Controversies
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 930, Monday Sept 5 at 1155 UT, a few minutes pre-sunrise here,
WKY OKC is in open carrier/dead air, because of holiday? And nulling it, I`m
getting something else in Spanish making a SAH of ~6 Hz, give or take. As
researched last Nov/Dec, there are only two N/W Mexicans on 930, Saltillo and
Fresnillo, and there is only one US SS anywhere in the west, KAPR Douglas AZ
(now that KHJ LA has got religion), tho we`re unsure exactly what format. This
one is musical at first, then economic? talk mentioning both pesos and d?lares.
But at 1200 UT sharp before there is any ID, WKY revives with its own music as
if it were programmed to do so. KAPR is also better positioned to get past WKY,
closer to a right angle than the XEs which are also more into sunrise now
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1480.82, Sept 5 at 0141 UT, het against 1480 stations, seems to
loop ESE/WNW. Reminds me of the 1499.17 het against 1500 I have been hearing
(820-830 Hz away), and would be close to a match for spurs each side out of
1490 rather than somethings off-frequency from 1480 or 1500. However, I`m sure
I would have noticed the 1480+ one before when I was getting the 1500- one. But
now I am not hearing the 1500- one; until 0156 UT when I can make it out
weaker, and on the same bearing (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

This report dispatched at 2053 UT September 5

I am in search of a Lowe HF150E/South Midlands Communications HF150E to
buy. If it's a little dinged up or scratched on the case, I don't care as
long as it's intact and works as designed without defects.

They are no longer made and I know most who have them don't want to give
them up, but the people I know who have them don't want to let them go.

If you have one for sale at a reasonable price, please email me privately:
walkerbroadcast...@gmail.com

Thanks,
Paul Walker

I'm really beginning think my April 16th, 2016 0344UTC (April 15th 744pm
AKDT) reception of Radio Guinea 9650kHz was a fluke here in Alaska.

The signal at that time was pretty darn good for what it was and about as
good as anything I've heard from other DX'ers since their 2nd reactivation
a week or two ago. A nearly 8 minute recording of my reception of Radio
Guinea 9650kHz is at the bottom of this post.

Here's the thing, since they came back this second time, I haven't heard a
PEEP!! And it's not due to same/adjacent channel stations, I've gone out at
various times when Radio Guinea would've been the only thing on the channel
with no slop from anyone else on 9645/9650/9655.

A friend and I have reasoned that the April 15th/16th re-appearance of
Radio Guinea 9650kHz was a test after decades of silence.. They turned
things on to see if everything still worked good and was within spec.

Well, after a day of operations, they figured things weren't working like
it should, turned it off and being a poor 3rd world country, it took them a
few months to fix it.

We found their tower site, a line of 6 towers in a reversed arc letter "C"
right in Conarky. If those towers line up is any indication of their beam,
going Southeast... then that would explain why folks in the SE and East
Central USA are hearing it so well, off the back lobe.

Again, this is all theory.. but I'd like to think, at least somewhat right..

A reminder that this broadcast is coming up next weekend. I am suspending
the request for $$ to cover postage or qsl costs as I've been so negligent
in getting QSL cards out. I do this broadcast for fun and will eventually
get to the QSL cards, I promise.

I am in Galena, Alaska in the central part of the state halfway between
Nome & Fairbanks.

About a week ago, I was tuning the AM Band in my Grundig Sattelit 750 with
external AM antenna jack connected to a 225 foot long wire.

I was tuned to 1017kHz and had serious spillage from KVNT 1020 Anchorage,
10kw from 300 miles away BUT there was distinct speech buried under that.

I sent a 60 second clip to the CEO and to the Chief Engineer at Tonga's
government owned A3Z to see if they could recognize anything as definately
being their station.

I certainly heard some South Pacific type music before my speech only
recording, but the voices sounded like they could've been CRI in some Asian
language.

We'll see!

All heard in rural central Alaska (300 miles west of Fairbanks) with a
Tecsun PL880, 225 foot long wire and EmTech ZM2 antenna tuner

Deutsche Welle QSL cards, programming schedules and tote bag received for
June 31 and August 2 1700-1800UTC reception reports with audio recordings
of 15275kHz and 17740kHz via Issoudun, France To Africa.

15275 audio here:
https://youtu.be/eNBfkK4-UT4

17740 audio here:
https://youtu.be/4fdirw8RxKs

A QSL Card, sticker and program scheduled received from DZRP Radyo
Pilipinas for a May 21, 2016 reception report

However, the QSL card is for the wrong frequency, referencing a report I
sent them from a year ago. I heard 9910kHz and 1210kHz here in Alaska, not
15190kHz. The date and times are right though.

Audio of what I heard on 9901khz is here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ve2EiihPCEY

An audio recording of what I heard on 12120khz is here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toO3Sijl0gw

2 Radio Romania QSL cards and a station leaflet of info for reception
reports to the French Service on 11900kHz and 11950kHz

Here's one piece of audio, 11950khz:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgCEpNGlJ2k

2 Radio Taiwan International QSL cards, a coaster and a small pennant and a
program schedule for May 22nd, 2016 11600kHz (English, beamed to Indoesia)
and June 25, 2016 7445kHz (English, beamed to Southeast Asia) reception
reports

7445kHz audio here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0wSucGQrfQ

11600kHz audio here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg6oBTu8Blw

I got two QSL cards from the English Department at The Voice of Iran.

They came one day apart and were for the same exact broadcast logging. One
card had just the date, another card had the date and time but no frequency!

Around 0945-1000UTC Sunday August 28thg, I tried tuning into SIBC 5020 with
my Tecsun PL880, 225 foot long wire, EmTech ZM2 Antenna Tuner and
DXEngneering RPA-1PLUS HF Preamp.

Setting the audio at 2.3khz and I could barely here them.. signal was ok,
modulation was a bit low. Setting audio to 3.5khz or more resulted in SIBC
being splattered into oblivion by WRMI 5015 and Radio Rebelde 5025

Radio Vanuatu was woefully undermodulated as well. If they ran 110 percent
modulation, they would have a fairly decent signal here. Tonight, I also
had some digital RTTY sounding noise most of the night too, which made
Radio Vanuatu even a bit more unpleasant then usual to listen to.,

>From Engineer Nilorier Tavo, "We are having problem with our SW
transmitters but work is still in progress to fix it."

I assume they are probably at lower then their "licensed" 10,000 watts, as
evidenced by WRMI 5015 and Radio Rebelde 5025 beating them to a pulp here
in Alaska the other day.

I wonder what the problem is, their transmitters is nearly brand new.. it's
a 2 year old Hitachi, from Japan. They have one transmitter, and it can
only do one frequency at a time, so both 5020 and 9545 are affected, I
assume.

15205 BSKSA Holy Quran sounds like it's spreading up to 15210 and there's

I've heard them on 11820 and 15205 plenty of times and they never sounded
this bad, wide open, well... Wet lol

What a total steaming pile things are right now... This is the worst I've
seen conditions. I scanned 2.5 to 18mhz and heard NOT ONE signal...

Nothing. No exaggeration! WWV on 10mhz was registering a carrier but
that's it and Zanzibar on 11735 which is at least fair on poor days is Non
existent here . AIR Vividh Bharati 9870khz which is usually good here is

Voice of Vietnam English Service on 12005kHz via Wooferton, UK heard on
August 29, 2016 at 0230UTC in Galena, Alaska, USA (Rural central interior,
300 miles east of Nome, 300 miles west of Fairbanks)

A SINPO rating of 44444. The signal was very strong and there was no
interference but a moderate amount of fading was present. Overall, the
broadcast was GOOD and fairly listenable.

My recording starts with the interval signal/intro tune and announcers
introducing the station but saying "This is The Voice of Vietnam,
broadcasting form Hanoi, the capital of the socialist republic of Vietnam".
Then a female announcer comes on gives brief headlines and preview of the
show then starts in with the news headlines.

A recording of what I heard is here:

Equipment used includes a Tecsun PL880, 225 foot long wire oriented north
south picking up from the east and west, a Workman Antenna Switch, EmTech
ZM2 Antenna Tuner and DXEngineering RPA-1PLUS HF Preamp
