Correct, fq change noted today Dec 6, new 7430 channel.
NEW ZEALAND 7430.004 R NZi Rangitaiki on powerful signal S=9+30dB
or -44dBm on remote Perseus unit at Brisbane Queensland, heard presenter
Paul Hawkins(?) start at 13.00:01 UT.
TX Rangitaiki came on air crash start at 12.58:42 UT
followed immediatelly by BIRD CHIRP til 12.59:56 UT, and few time pips.
Before from 1250 UT noted adjacent 7425 CNR 2nd Xian China music program,
S=9 in Brisbane, S=6 in Nagoya, scheduled 1100-1605 UT.
On 7435 kHz noted both, VoVietnam Son Tay domestic and probably
OCB / IBB BBG R Marti Greenville NC, also S=9 common signal mixture.
Nearby heard also an unknown UTE signal in Brisbane and Nagoya Japan
remotes:
12.26:25 UT new FAX signal like session on
7433 to 7434.4 kHz fq range - center string measured on 7433.895 kHz.

Here's a little summary with audio clips from FM DXing on Tue Dec 5th and
Wed Dec 6th in Ridgway, PA
NW Corner of the state, halfway between State College PA and Olean, NY.
2000 feet in elevation with a Sangean HDT1 and 5 element yagi 15 feet off
the ground, hanging off my porch.
I wouldn't call any of this extreme or super DX, but the situation(s) make
it a bit interesting.
105.5 WGOJ Conneaut, OH 6KW Class at 99 miles to my NW. WMKX Brookville,
about 30 miles to my south was off the air this morning. 747AM with legal
id 13 minutes later in the clip straight up at 8am

remains active with PMS, VG S9+30/20; while // 5935 WWCR is S9+40. Haven`t
heard day frequency 11775, not on at 1958 UT check.
But it has been on sporadically, e.g. Dec 6 from Mauno Ritola, Finland: ``11775
kHz also on at 1445, but suddenly off at 1451``. 6090 continued: PMS at 0246
Dec 6, DGS at 0654 Dec 6 but with whine unlike 5935 WWCR (Glenn Hauser, OK,

** BIAFRA [non]. 11530, Dec 5 at 1943, no signal from WRMI for Radio Biafra.
This transmission has not been heard for a few days, and does not appear on the
WRMI frequency grid. Also, those who have heard Radio Biafra via France say it
has contracted to half an hour instead of one hour. New shorter files continue
to be uploaded daily to a WRMI server (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1907,
DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** BRAZIL. 11780, Dec 5 at 1958, RNA with good signal in Brazuguese, noticed as
I was checking 11775 for absent Anguilla (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** CHINA [non]. 9570, Dec 6 at 1322, CRI English via CUBA, with wailing,
screaming drama, ``I want to die``. Quick tune-out. Alan Roe`s new monitored
schedule of CRI in forthcoming DXLD 17-49 shows this is simply called `Chinese
Theater` at 1305-1330 daily and also at 1605 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
DIGEST)
** CUBA [and non]. 7355, Dec 6 at 0700, Radio Mart? stops this frequency altho
jamming continues a bit. WHRI does not show up, as it had been from 0700 with
BS for one hour; instead continues on 7315. Still don`t know when Radio Mart?
resume on 7355 (and IBB/OCB has yet to reveal it to HFCC), but it and the
jammers are running at next check 1253 about equal to // 7435. (While RNZI has
moved to 7430, q.v.). BTW also hearing lite pulse jamming at 1313 on 7405, not
an RM frequency now (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** MEXICO. 830, Dec 6 at 0137, something in Spanish with WCCO attenuated by
aurora and nulled; all I can catch is a definite mention of 105.7 FM, so is it
the usual Unitedstatesian spoiler, WFNO, Norco, Louisiana? NRC AM Log shows its
translator wagger is on 97.5. Now to check the IRCA Mexican Log: here`s the one
with a 105.7: XELN, Linares, Nuevo Le?n, 5000/250 watts, ``La Caliente``. It`s
also the only 830/105.7 Mexican combo in WRTH 2017 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)
** NEW ZEALAND. 13730, Dec 5 at 0714, RNZI is holding up better than I
expected, fair S9-S9+10, but not as solid as it had been on 11725. Also Dec 6
at 0702 good S9+10.
Adrian Sainsbury replied to me early UT Dec 6: ``Hi Glenn, We will give 7430 a
test drive today 13-1650 UT Rgds Adrian Sent from my iPhone``. So Dec 6 at 1253
I`m on previous 11610 which is VP S5-S6 with music, 1257 barely audible QSY
announcement to 7430. That cuts on with bell bird IS at 1258:50, S9+10, so no
longer co-channel to the Cuban radio war on 7355 --- and no CCI here, but now
it`s adjacent to the Cuban radio war on its other 40m frequency, 7435. LSB
tuning is absolutely required to hear RNZI without ACI, OK for me, and maybe
the CRW is not such a problem in the Pacific. 1300 starts `Pacific Regional
News` including at 1303 about sorcery incidents in PNG`s second largest city,
Lae. By 1439 recheck, CRW 7435 is off and now the 7435 adjacent is something
weaker from Asia, no problem.
RNZI has already duly registered new 7430 in the Dec 6 edition of HFCC:

drumming at S9-S7, presumably Herwa (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 1906 monitoring: confirmed Tuesday December
5 at 2030 on WRMI 7780, better 9455 and best 11580. Also confirmed Dec 5 at
2130 on WRMI 9455 only; whew, still then despite `The Power Hour` taking over
other frequencies this hour. Unfortunately my produxion running late, and WOR
1907 probably not in time for UT Wednesday Dec 6 at 0030 on WBCQ 9330v-CUSB
either --- but no signal audible from that. So should have first appeared Wed
Dec 6 at 1030 on WRMI 5850 & 9455.
Wed Dec 6 until 1345 on WRMI 9955 --- it`s still #1906! My fault, in an
uploading error to that server, now corrected. Anyhow, good S9+10 with no
jamming.

** U S A. 7780 // 9395 // 9455, Dec 5 at 1330, on WRMI `The Power Hour`,
call-in show. I gather that there is controversy about the forced time change
to 21-23 UT, and another program on the GCN network with a YL hostess,
co-opting TPH name. It seems GCN`s first offer was to move this one to 6-8 am
CT (12-14 UT) but Daniel the host (to whom the late Joyce Riley ``gave`` the
original Power Hour) didn`t want that as it would be too early to get any
guests on from the West Coast. Adam Miller is the guy at GCN they have been in
contact with, altho he does not make scheduling decisions. Daniel mentions
being on 13850 [sic!], 7490, 9395. Now he is also on 7490 & 13845 WWCR, but
those are running 5 minutes and 40 seconds behind! as I timed some key words
after 1400 (when 7490 has switched to otherhuxter as usual). Due to some
references to ``this morning`` as in the past, and saying ``good afternoon`` at
1400 on 9395, I conclude that what we are hearing are playbacks of the new afte
rnoon show from its first day yesterday Dec 4, rather than adopting UT as
local time. Promo says the website thepowerhour.com has been revamped. They are
obviously mainly interested in selling survivalist stuff.
I am checking WRMI frequencies the afternoon of Tue Dec 5. On 9455, Oldies tune
is cut off at 2000 sharp for `Walking in Power`, while the tune continues on
9395. 7780 continues with BS. But at 2030, 7780 cuts to WORLD OF RADIO 1906,
matching // 9455 and 11580.
I feared that 9455 would be on The Power Hour after 2100, but no, it continues
with diverse programming, i.e. Wavescan on Tue, and then at 2130 WORLD OF
RADIO. But now at 2110 check, 9395 // 7780 are on `The Power Hour`. Yesterday
after 2200 I had found TPH on all three including 9455 (but no WWCR
frequencies) (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1907, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
** U S A. 3185, Dec 5 at 0723, WWRB is finally modulating again after 4+ days
and now even on the night BS frequency at night; still going at 1330 check; and
by 1435 has switched to day frequency 9370, still BS-ing, and also at 1958
check. And 3185 again with BS at 0654 Dec 6. So Dave or someone has resumed
control of the station.
We still have nothing definite about his personal welfare. But Don Moman,
VE6JY, adds this info:

involved with 630m and the callsign WA4SZE (Dave Frantz) is often the subject
of discussion there, with regard to transmitting beacon signals with greater
ERP than allowed and generally causing negative effects on such a small band.
Anyway, unless these signals are automated, they seem to come up in different
modes and frequencies at various times, which would mean someone is running
them. I'm hearing his wspr beacon on 475.652 kHz tonight (last one heard 0358

matches.

But much strong on 9690 kHz at S=9+25dB level,
all over Europe at 2005 UT on Dec 6.

I?ve never done tv DXing before but with my height advantage here, I want
to try it.
I have no idea what?s good and what?s not, but I know there?s crap out
there and you get what you pay for.
I have a Win XP laptop I?m not using I can Dedicate to this.
I?d like to stick to something I can buy on Amazon, and keep it under $150
if possible.
Can someone offer some suggestions?
And if I need some capture software, can someone recommend sone that will
record off the tuner? I?m willing to, again, spend a decent amount of money
for this.... maybe $50? Just basic recording and maybe basic editing.
Remember, totally new and clueless to this.

Things have changed. You need a TV tuner device that can receive HD TV
signals. There is no more analog TV over the airwaves in Canada or the US.
I can't suggest what device(s) you could buy as I haven't looked in to this.
I still have an old analog tuner card to record programs from video tapes.

And the VHF low band old channels 2 thru 6 in usa has largely been given over
to wireless services. The few digital stations assigned are low power ones. Low
band analog still exists to a limited degree in Canada and is still used in
Cuba and Latin America outside now all digital Mexico. To make a long story
short you can still get tropo on VHF high band and UHF but the E skip happy
hunting ground low band VHF has many fewer stations to chase.
