Peru, 6019.30, Radio Victoria, 0845-0859, Had a clear signal here with
no QRM until 0859. Initially noted two males in Religious Spanish comments
preaching off each other's comments. At 0852, a female comments and
begins crying over the air while she is comforted by another male. Finally,
about 0854 a male gives TC and other information, mentioning Peru,
but I didn't hear Victoria mentioned. At 0859, Radio Australia comes on
the air blocking Victoria's fair signal. (Chuck Bolland, April 11, 2009)

Ecuador, 4815, Radio Buen Pastor, 1010-1040, At tune in, noted steady
local type popular music. Did not hear any comments until 1015 with a
canned ID by a female and a male in Spanish, then back to music. Again
at 1032, a male comments in Spanish which was live. This is followed by
canned ADS or promos using the echo effect most of the time. Back to music
at 1035. Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland, April, 11, 2009)

Bolivia, 6134.76, Radio Santa Cruz, 1037-1045, Checked this earlier at
1000, but conditions there were poor and heard only the carrier. At 1037
the signal is at a fair level and audio is a little better than before. At
tune in,
noted a series of canned ADs. At about 1042 a male in long comments while
the signal begins to disappear somewhat from a fair to threshold. (Chuck
Bolland, April 11, 2009)

Bolivia, 6155.21, Radio Fides, 1044-1055, At tune in, noted a male in
Spanish comments. At 1045 music presented with a male singing while
accompanied by an acoustic guitar. At 1048, canned ADs or promos.
The signal all of the sudden, has dropped from a fair to a threshod.
(Chuck Bolland, April 11, 2009)

Unid, 6195.713, 1054-1100 Note a lone signal here and it's very weak. At
initial tune in, noted Huaynos music being played. This could be Radio
Cusco which I've been looking for since the last time I heard it on 6193+
KHz? Not sure what's happening by 1056 since I sort of lost track of the
signal, it was so weak. I think I can hear a male in Spanish comments?
Yes I can! Punched the freq into my NRD 545 just to see if I could hear
the signal on it as well as the WJ HF1000. Actually I could and it sounded
just about the same in strength. Back on the HF1000, at 1100 noted a male
in Spanish comments again and they were very distinct and certain. Didn't
hear an ID however. (Chuck Bolland, April 11, 2009)

Colegas.

As expected, this week V. of Biafra International via WHRI was
on 17520, Friday April 10 at 1900 --- as I was barely able to confirm by
recognizing the oratorical style at 1945 on the DX-398 portable as I was out
and about and paused to check it in a store parking lot. Under those
circumstances, it was just barely audible, and with a pretty heavy echo on what
there was of it; backscatter? Brian Alexander also got it better in PA. I later
checked 11885 after 2100, the time it was on the previous Friday, and this
frequency was not even on the air (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** INDONESIA. 9680, presumed RRI Sat April 11 from 1330 past 1400 with some
long-form ``Indonesian opera`` consisting of soprano and gamelan accompaniment,
no break at hourtop. There may have been some Chinese QRM under, but RRI
dominant this time, and VOI 9525 was also very good (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** NIGERIA. 15120, VON, April 10 at 2047, English talk with distortion, pause
for announcement that it`s the 60 Minutes show and the anchor`s audio was clear
as well as a musical bit, then back to another muffled reporter. Sounds like
they are re-using old worn-out tapes, and/or dirty, worn-out heads, but hey,
what counts is that 250 kW transmitter and claims of worldwide coverage (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. VOA violating separation of church and state: At 2123-2129* April 10,
in the Kriyol service on 11895, Agnus Dei and Pie Jesu, beautiful music, but it
can hardly be coincidental that it`s ``Good Friday`` and they are playing
classical music for a change. Mentioned Roman Catholic Church; adherents of
Voudou, or any other belief, should raise hell with VOA and demand equal time.

It`s far from the first such violation. R. Mart? broadcast Catholic services
and may still do so, altho Jehovah`s Witnesses and many other sects are much
more in need of USG aid in penetrating Cuba; R. Liberty used to broadcast
Russian Orthodox stuff. Thus the US Government is endorsing Christianity of
various ilx to the exclusion of countless other religions practiced at home and
abroad. Better to keep it secular (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** VENEZUELA [non]. Another Spanish gospel huxter on 16m? 17705, VG signal
April 10 at 2024 with YL telling the story of Jesucristo, complete with
inspirational music past 2032, as if it were historical fact. This has to be
Radio Nacional de Venezuela as scheduled during this hour via Cuba, violating
separation of church and state. Back to equally one-sided politix! (Glenn
Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST) ###

Peru, 6195.713, Radio Cusco, pres, 2330-2345, Noted a number of people
in Spanish Language comments which I believe were religious. For instance,
heard the word "Palabra" during the comments. At 2337, religious music sung.
Signal was threshold but still active. (Chuck Bolland, April 11, 2009)

Peru, 6195.77, Radio Cusco, 2345-0010, Noted a couple of males and
a female all conversing together. At 0006 the freq is starting to get noisy
while the signal hasn't improved anymore. The actual freq for this station
is 6195.813 measured by Brandon Jordan, in Tenn. I am listening where
I can hear the details the best for my hearing. At 0008 music presented.
Signal remained from threshold to poor during this period. (Chuck Bolland,

Bolivia, 5952.47, Emisora Pio XII, 0033-0045, Noted a male and female
in brief Spanish comments at tune in. At 0037 flute music heard. I haven't
heard many stations this evening, but those that I have heard seem to be in
a
religious venue. After the tune, the male and female converse. Signal was
fair. (Chuck Bolland, April 12, 2009)

Chuck,

Please always report your logs with exact carrier frequencies, as closely as
you can measure them, which appears to be to two decimal places. Side tune if
you like or need to but give us the real frequency.

Reporting a frequency as ``where it sounds best`` leads to inaccuracies, and
inability to compare one report with another. That would be like in a less DXy
situation, reporting some 6185 station as ``6187`` because it sounds clearer
there when tuned on some receiver, or because of QRM on one side. The exact
carrier frequency is an essential atttribute of any transmission.

Now we can only wonder if many of your previous items were not exact carrier
freaquencies.

73, Glenn Hauser
