The best documentation I have found for the RPC calls is in the
development kit that includes a help file that takes one through the
process step by step.
I can't remember where I downloaded it from. Nancy posted a link to
this a month or so ago. Try checking the archives.

One way I have used to figure out what driver to use (I had problems
with a D-link card on Mandrake) is to boot from a Knoppix live CD and
look at what driver it loadsKnoppix does a very good job at
detecting hardware. You can then add the driver you need. Mepis is
another good distribution
