Yes, but getting your hands on it isn't easy. It's on web pages on

Does documentation exist for the outbound hl7 messages?
I agree that there is (and can be) no such thing as a "generic
miracle parser", but I don't think that it what is being called for.
There is no "generic miracle parser" for context free languages,
either, but there are still tools such as yacc/bison that vastly
simplify the process of const
rs etc. to VistA.

Does documentation exist for the outbound hl7 messages?
Does VistA-Office have designs for integration?

I am not so interested at the moment in IFCAP type data, but

Bear in mind that VistA was initially developed for internal VA use, so
integrating with practice management software hos not been an issue.

VISTA with other applications
Generally speaking, interfaces with external systems are implemented
using HL7 (version 2). VistA doesn't support JDBC directly, but there
are third party tools that could be used. In addition, some additional

Does VISTA have a means to integrate with other HIS or EMR applications,
either via HL7, or JDBC or some other means?
It appears that there is an HL7 package. Is there documentation for
supported messages?
Thanks much!
