Boot-time scans only happen upon request...but yes indeed, it slows boot time
as it scans everything. But it doesn't need to happen upon every boot.

When you install XP "clean", do you start with SP2 on the CD
(integrated or embedded) or are you using olders CDs and (or)
talking about re-installs...
I have not used an XP-Gold, or XP-SP1 CD for ANYTHING for quite a
long time...
Patching XP "up to" SP1 or SP2 ON
