Postcast has a free version, and I just installed it to

If you could I would appreciate it. I would also be interested to know
if it can restrict by IP address.

It does restrict by IP - you can enter a list of IPs that are accepted.

I have a PC and 2x500G SATA drives, to which I plan to add another two, that
I want to build as a NAS Server (FreeNAS). The PC does not have a SATA
controller so I will need to add one, any recommendations?
Thanks

Or a silicon image on a card I know works with freenas. (Naslite is -so- much
better, but that's a different story)

I could be convinced to use NASLite. :-) What advantage does it offer over
FreeNAS? Would its use make a difference on the SATA controller
recomendation?
BTW, thanks for the info! I really appreciate it!

Silicon Image and Marvell are what intel sometimes uses on their own retail

Promise doesn't make great anything. I've had much better luck with generic

I've used promise PCI to ATA and PCI to SATA for MANY years with the best
compatability in both linux AND windows. The SI chipset is also good.
I agree most of their other products stink.

Eh, their Ultra100 and Ultra133 controllers were okay. At least they
worked in pairs ;)
The generic Silicon Image SATA controllers are great though
