Yeah, I should have tried the factory reset thing as I just found the
paper clip sized hole on the back of the unit as I was replacing it. I
broke my budget and went a little crazy and bought a D-Link gigabit
router that's pretty sweet so far. Not dramatically faster as it topped
out around 32
on sata controllers not recognized in the bios, if recognized by the bios
windows ( at least have for me ) seen the drives just fine.
YMMV

It is always a bad sign, but...
Sometimes you need to turn off the CPU L1 and/or L2 cache
in the BIOS, and/or underclock the CPU, or cut the voltage a notch.
It is a bad sign since you should not need to do that.
Are you sure the CD is perfectly clean?
Good luck, (I've been lucky lately.)

Thanks Forc5,
But all my reads yesterday and today tell me that WinXP can NOT recognize SATA
of any flavor (hard drives and CDROMs) w/o F6 added drivers.
I have both(via pata/sata converters!)...
Getting ready to try demoting the hard drive back to pata...
I did not think so either, but,.

Bryan,
Understand. That old 2940 has been retired!
THIS new system is:
Asus P5Q3 (Intel ?P45/P45E?)
E8400 C2D
2x 1GB Crucial "Ballistix" (DDR3)
Chipset: ICH10R
bios: 0502
HD: Seagate ST3160812A
Will not continue after F6 driver install.
Have tried drivers for:
JM336
ICH8R/9R/10R
Insta
Maybe you should ditch that 2940 and upgrade ;)

I have one Windows 2003 server running Terminal Services set up in each of
three offices that I would like to get into from the outside world, one to
be able to do some admin stuff without having to go to each office and
another for the owner to be able to look at the cameras hooked up to each
