What happens if you put the unsupported CPU in the board and try to
boot? Maybe the BIOS just mis-identifies it or some of the features
don't work but you can still boot.

Yeah, I figured that out too :) forty bucks for a Celeron 430 on
Newegg, at least I will get it overnight for free.. sigh this sucks!
