[H] CPU Upgrade

Does Windows XP Pro SP2 need to be reinstalled when going from a single core Athlon 64 to an X2 processor? How about from a non-HT Pentium 4 to a Hyper Threaded one? Or will the OS just recognize it? Just wondering about future upgrade paths. Thanks.
