Understand. Thanks for the links. I did look at all of then. Gotta say it
will take me some time to fully comprehend/decode them. By choice, I
am dealing with machines that now have 80-100 updates already in place.

Partial answer:
If someone said this, sorry. (I looked ahead, but am trying to catch up...)
You can "elect" to stop USING IE,
but you can't stop things that are "hard coded" to use it - from using it.
Since it is "built-in" to the OS, you MUST keep it patched,
if you are using it or NOT.
