[H] Partitioning 3TB Drive

I have my first 3TB drive = WD Red. When I boot up into Win 8 >>Management>>>Disk Management>> I see two two partitions ready to create 2TB and 746MB. It doesn't seem to want to create a single 3TB NTFS drive... I know this can be done so how do I do this? Is GPT visible in Windows 7? thanks m
