I have a legacy Tyan Tiger 230 S2507D (VIA Apollo Pro133A) dual PIII 1Ghz. One day it will make a great NAS box, but for now I would like to use it ocasionally to record TV with it's All in Wonder 7500 AGP. But it won't work, because when it records audio from any source, from any app, the sound is understandable but distorted.

Over the years, I have narrowed this problem down to the motherboard. It is using Crucial P133 ECC RAM, and lots of it = 1280 megs. It has three old PATA drives but not that old. Everything on the PC has worked in other All in Wonder setups just fine. I have swapped out every card on it,every drive and device.

It runs 2kSP4 fully patched but I have tried a clean install of 2K with nothing but the All in Wonder, and the sound card = SB Live. I have tried different sound cards. I have tried a clean install of XP PRO using nothing but certified drivers. Over the years, through a process of elimination, I have proven to myself that something is wrong on the board.

Still, other then that it is a great board. It plays back audio perfectly. It is just when it records audio. Video works perfectly. And it is not just with the All in Wonder. I can use third party apps to record a CD and have the same problem, when the ALL in Wonder isn't installed. I have also played around with the BIOS settings but nothing has brought any change.

It is baffling since it only effects recordings. Has anybody ever seen, or better fixed something like this?
