Biggest problem I have seen with Divx 6 so far is there are no options to configure. You give it the source files, tell it what audio/subtitle/video tracks to process, and it goes. Great for the average user, not really what I am looking for. But maybe it will be okay. I will encode some stuff

I've switched to xvid for any video I need to encode. Higher quality, smaller files, MUCH sharper than that blurry Divx stuff...and completely free for all features. More active development. The downside? It is a touch slower to encode. On a 2.61GHz Athlon 64 (Venice) though, I don't much care
