The module system JSR was just posted on JCP http://www.jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=277 This is targeted for J2SE7. At least someone working on Harmony should be involved. The JSR proposal doesn't get into mechanics or the solution space much, but notice the line: We also expect the Java Module
