I am pleased to announce publication of my huge maternal genealogy in
a new, large-format 384-page book, One Hundred Years in Canada: The
RUBINOFF-NAFTOLIN Family Tree.

Thousands of people across Canada, the United States, Israel and
other countries are related to the Rubinoff and Naftolin families of
Toronto, whose ancestors came from the Russian provinces of Minsk and
Moghilev (now Belarus) in the early 20th century. One Hundred Years
in Canada: the Rubinoff-Naftolin Family Tree traces the immigrants'
arduous journeys and celebrates their brave resolve to resettle and
raise their children in their chosen land of freedom and opportunity.

The book is essentially an illustrated history of one of Toronto's
large Jewish families. The narrative was woven from some 200
interviews with family members and biographical details culled from
birth, marriage and death records, naturalization papers, ship
manifests and other sources. The volume contains more than 600
photographs, maps and illustrations, including many rare views from
Russia of a century ago, and many from Toronto from the 1910s forward.

Presented in five main chapters, the family saga is augmented with
dozens of genealogical charts. A chapter is also devoted to the
Agudas Hamishpocha, the family organization that was founded in 1928.
The book is complete with an introduction, appendices, notes and a
series of indices.

Twenty years in the making, the book will certainly be a treasure for
anyone connected to the family tree and a source of fascination to
anyone interested in Toronto Jewish history or the art and practice
of Jewish genealogy.

The book costs $40 and shipping is $10. For details, please visit the
web site http://rubnaft.com or write
to Now & Then Books, P.O. Box 23042, 550 Eglinton Ave. W., Toronto
Ont. Canada M5N 3A8.
