I am happy to share with you the publication of my book on Jewish
surrogate mothers in Israel and the couples they make into families.
The book, entitled "Birthing a Mother: the Surrogate Body and the
Pregnant Self" (University of California Press, March 2010) is based
on anthropological fieldwork among Jewish-Israeli women interspersed
with cross-cultural perspectives of surrogacy in the global context.
It may be of interest to scholars and students interested gender,
motherhood, family and the body in the Jewish and Israeli context, as
well as anyone interested in the way Jewish women make sense of this
new technological terrain. More information can be found on the
publisher's catalog site, including a sample chapter and the table of
contents: http://www.ucpress.edu/books/pages/11401.php

Thank you,

Elly Teman
