Dear colleagues,

I need advice on how best to record Hebrew signatures in MARC format, on
RLIN.

Did anyone notice whether Hebrew signatures (often printed alongside Latin
signatures) correspond to Latin signatures, for which Gaskell's rule
applies (I=J, U=V, W omitted)?

Has anybody suggestions how to record Hebrew signature formulas *without*
using Hebrew characters?
Suggestion: alef-dalet[uppercase 4], hej-vav[uppercase6]

Or should one follow Prijs/Basel, who records Hebrew signatures in Hebrew
characters?

One can of course enter Hebrew characters on RLIN. But local
OPAC's that don't yet display Unicode would probably display much garbled
formulas.

Thanks in advance for your help.
