Dec. 22, 2009 I would like to recommend Sadia Shepard, The Girl from Foreign: A Memoir to other libraries for an author presentation .
At our Community Read last week over 300 people were spellbound as Shepard spoke about her promise to her grandmother to return to India to document her grandmother's history and that of the Bene Israel. Her 38 minute documentary film was also shown. The community is still buzzing! We have a small Bene Israel community in Dallas and it was very moving for them too.
