Dear Safranim,
Our rabbi once owned an edition of the Everett Fox Five Books of
Moses that came with a CD-ROM. Does anyone know where this might
still be available with the CD-ROM?
Many thanks.

That's an intriguing question.
I assume you mean books other than the Tanach and other religious texts.
This is, of course, subjective, but here are a few suggestions:
Joseph Telushkin's A Code of Jewish Ethics
Anne Frank's The Diary of a Young Girl
Viktor Frankl's
fiction:
Rise of David Levinsky by Abraham Cahan
City Boy by Herman Wouk
works by Cynthia Ozick
Abigail Yasgur

1. Genesis
2. Exodus
3. Leviticus
4. Numbers
5. Deuteronomy
They are the foundation of all of Jewish religion, history, and culture
and--sadly--most American Jews have not read them. Start with these
five books and you'll have a greater appreciation of all the other
Jewish books you read.

authority but at the moment I can think of one that I'm bugging every
english-speaking individual in Valencia, jewish or not, to read:
Outwitting History by Aaron Lansky
Besos de V
Five books every American Jew should read.
Not books to have on their shelves for reference, but books to
actually read in their entirety.
Any thoughts?
