We are in the process of doing our first Infocentre Inventory.
We bought an extra barcode scanner ($125)connected it to a Laptop computer
loaded with Infocentre client software.
We created a wireless network in the library with a $39 router.
Then we can do inventory in any location in the library directly into the
Server. It has been working very well. You can even just borrow a laptop for
the time you are doing the inventory.
The barcode scanner works with any other of our computers so it is useful
when you have a crowd in the library and want to check-out books away from
the circ desk.
Having a wireless network in the library allows patrons to use their own
laptops in the library and keeps ours free for library use.

When we used our old hand-held from Sagebrush there were numerous problems
downloading, synching etc. This is the way to go if you can assemble the
pieces.
